晴天の中、千葉県茂原市高志茂原総合市民センターで、「福祉こどもまつり」が開催されました。
4時間のイベントで、子供たちが見て楽しめるものが一杯詰まった一日でした。
多くのの屋台、太鼓の演奏、警察官の交通整理用自転車、来場者が座って写真を撮れるコーナー、地元の赤十字のスタッフ、子供たちがハンディキャップや高齢者用の器具を体験できるコーナー、コミュニティヘルパーによる様々な楽しいゲームなど、盛りだくさんでした。
私たちと一緒に写真を撮ろうと列を作る来場者たちは、たくさんの幸せそうな顔と笑顔でいっぱいでした。
多くの来場者が私たちを見て、「本物のスター・ウォーズのキャラクターを見ることができて、とてもクールだった」と言ってくれたのは、本当に嬉しかったです。
また、前週末に私たちを見たという熱心な子供たちが、再び私たちに挨拶し、一緒に写真を撮ってくれました。
私たちは屋外イベントエリアを回り、バイカー・スカウトが警察にライディング・スキルを披露する素晴らしい機会もありました。
私たちを温かく迎え、盛り上げてくれた皆さんの気持ちは素晴らしいものでした。福祉こどもまつり」初出演にして、ミッション成功です。

The Welfare Children’s Festival was held on a bright sunny day at the local civic center in Takashi, Mobara. It was a four hour event with a day packed with fun things for kids to see and do.
There were lots of food stalls, taiko drummers, a police traffic bike for visitors to sit on for photos, the local Red Cross staff, an area for kids to experience using equipment for handicap or elderly people and a variety of fun games organized by the community helpers.
Lots of happy faces and smiles as visitors lined up to take photos with us.
It was a real treat for many visitors to see us there and hear them say how cool it was to see real Star Wars characters. Some enthusiastic kids had seen us the weekend before and made sure to say hello again and take photos with us.
We made the rounds of the outdoor event area and had a great chance to have our biker scouts show the police their riding skills as well.
The warm welcome feeling and excitement showed to us by everyone was amazing.
Overall, it was mission success for a first time appearance at the Welfare Children’s Festival.
